Finding Love (Again) at The Buckingham

Ann Neyland and Jack Hurt didn’t expect to find love when they moved into The Buckingham. Both had moved to the community in 2017, and the two later met through The Buckingham’s weekly breakfast gathering for bacon, eggs, and fun conversations. What began as a friendship soon blossomed into romance. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, outside activities and visitors were restricted, which prompted Ann and Jack to spend even more time together. After a year of dating, Ann and Jack wed on December 19, 2020, at Christ Church Cathedral. They had an intimate, family-only ceremony and are now enjoying an abundant life together surrounded by friends at The Buckingham.

“It’s been a really wonderful experience. The way we’ve been received by not only the community here, but by our kids, has just been great. The families get along really well, and Ann and I, of course, are very much in love. It’s a wonderful way to live,” said Jack.

The couple can often be found enjoying The Buckingham’s wide range of resident activities both inside and outside of the community. Whether taking part in an exercise class, a game of mahjong or a ping pong match, or venturing to the Alley Theater with other residents through transportation provided by The Buckingham, there are many opportunities to stay busy.

When asked to name the most appealing thing about living at The Buckingham, Ann and Jack both agree it’s the people. The people they live around have become like family, always looking out for one another, and the friendships both Ann and Jack have made along the way have been great blessings for them.
