Coronavirus Updates

December 10, 2020

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am happy to let you know we continue to experience a moderate and stable situation with COVID. This past week has been relatively calm, highlighted by several recoveries. We had one (1) resident from Independent Living recover and two (2) staff members, one (1) from rehabilitation and one (1) from resident services   That was good news for us all.

We did experience one (1) new positive case, a staff member in dining services. That gives us three (3) positive cases currently: one (1) resident, in Memory Care, and two (2) staff members, one in dining services as mentioned and the second in resident services. The resident has received their first negative test and we are hopeful for their recovery, with a second negative test, in the near future.

We continue to follow the news and planned distribution of the vaccines for the virus. However, as of today, there is not yet any definitive news/information about when the vaccine will be available specifically for our community. Media reports indicate it could be by the end of the month, but we are waiting for more official notice.  We are working with a local pharmacy in terms of setting up our internal processes for when the vaccine is available, and we can start to immunize residents and staff.

Please stay vigilant in your efforts to reduce your risk of the virus. The holidays are a time to gather with family and friends. Please do so safely, for yourself and others. With the virus still very present, but vaccine on the horizon, we can see the end of this pandemic. But it isn’t here quite yet so please continue your efforts, especially by wearing masks, handwashing and physically distancing to reduce your risk of contracting the virus.

Take care and stay healthy,

Jamie Kneen,

Executive Director
