Join us to hear about the extraordinary life of Carmen Maria Montiel.
Carmen Maria Montiel’s teenage years were filled with tiaras, ballgowns and flashbulbs as she earned the titles of Miss Venezuela, Miss South America, and Miss Universe second runner-up. She then moved to the United States and traded in the pageant life for a journalism degree and the studio lights and TV cameras of Telemundo. Today, she’s a real estate agent, reporter and news anchor for Provicom. But behind closed doors, Carmen endured domestic abuse throughout her 25-year marriage.
Join us as Carmen Maria Montiel discusses her personal memoir: “Stolen Identity: A Story of Love, Violence and Liberation.’’ It shows how, with the help of family and friends, she was able to escape her ex-husband’s decades of physical and psychological abuse to reclaim her beautiful life.
