Making the Move to Be Closer to Family – A New Home at The Buckingham

Preston Adams can often be found swapping stories and cutting up with a growing crowd of other residents in one of dining venues at The Buckingham. After living alone for 10 years after the passing of his wife, the West Texas native made the move to The Buckingham to be closer to his daughter and son-in-law who live in Houston. The Buckingham community made Preston’s move an unexpectedly seamless transition after living in his hometown for 50 years.

“I’ve always enjoyed being around people, so I think I fit in pretty well,” said Preston. “If you’ve spent 50 years in a little town – my hometown Junction, Texas, has only about 2,800 people – and then move to Houston, it’s a pretty big deal.”

Preston was quick to make friends upon his arrival at The Buckingham. He spends a lot of his time sitting and enjoying the company of other residents, strolling in the park or relaxing in the billiards room. He is most thankful to be close to family members who visit often, for the friendly staff, and for the meaningful connections he has made with so many kind and joyful residents.
