Dog Days of Summer

On the paths and walkways that meander through our 20-plus acres, both two-and four-legged residents can often be found taking leisurely strolls in the senior living community’s manicured courtyards and gardens. More social butterflies take to the private dog park, with the red fire hydrant a favorite spot to congregate.

The Buckingham is home to a diverse population of canine residents. With a range of proven physical, mental and emotional benefits, pet ownership is not only welcomed here, it’s encouraged.

“We understand the incredible bond residents share with their dogs, cats and birds, and we do our best to ensure they’re treated like every other member of our community,” said Pam Ortiz, director of lifestyles.

In recognition of National Dog Day on August 26, The Buckingham plans to showcase resident/dog portraits, and visit the George Observatory to try and view summer constellations. Additionally, each day that week, the culinary team will prepare a different type of hot dog that’ll be a special on the menu.
